EU Net Zero Industry Act (“NZA”)

The proposed regulation would set up enabling conditions for the manufacturing of net-zero technologies (for example, through streamlined administrative processes, facilitated access to markets, and support to access finance).

The eight strategic net-zero technologies promoted would be:
(1) Solar photovoltaic and solar thermal technologies;
(2) Onshore wind and offshore renewable technologies;
(3) Battery/storage technologies;
(4) Heat pumps and geothermal energy technologies;
(5) Electrolysers and fuel cells;
(6) Sustainable biogas/biomethane technologies;
(7) Carbon capture and storage technologies;
(8) Grid technologies.

By 2030 the manufacturing capacity in the EU for these strategic net-zero technologies should reach an overall benchmark of at least 40 % of the EU’s annual deployment needs.
